An earthquake of mild intensity hit several Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cities including Mardan on Sunday morning.

The earthquake scared the people of Mardan and Takht Bhai and other adjoining areas where residents rushed out of their houses and buildings.

So far there were no reports of any injuries or damage.

On October 7 last, 20 people were killed and more than 200 injured when a shallow earthquake hit many Balochistan cities. Many of the victims died when roofs and walls collapsed after the 5.9 magnitude quake struck Balochistan, with a power cut forcing health workers to treat the injured using flashlights.

The worst-affected area was the remote mountainous city of Harnai, where a lack of paved roads, electricity and mobile phone coverage hampered rescuers.
