PUNE (India) Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt came to India to congratulate Sharad Pawar on becoming the ICC president. This was one of the reasons Ijaz Butt gave in public in New Delhi on Thursday. My primary object to come here was to congratulate to Sharad Pawar whom I had not met when he became the ICC president. I was not in Pakistan for a few days and returned just four to five days ago, he said on Thursday. How many times he will congratulate Sharad Pawar, former Test cricketer and former PCB CEO Majid Khan and Arif Abbasi asked. The PCB chairman attended the board meeting in June in Singapore where Sharad Pawar was designated as the ICC chief, former ICC president David Morgan confirmed to this scribe. Dont be surprised if Pawar is again congratulated in next months ICC board meeting, someone close to the PCB affairs said. He could have easily picked up the phone and sent a message to Pawar. Why is he wasting PCB money for this trip? Arif Abbasi asked. Interestingly, it was Zakir Khan and not the present CEO Bari who attended the last ICC CEO meeting in Cape Town earlier this week. It is to be seen whether Ijaz Butt completes his two-year term as President Asif Ali Zardari, also patron chief of the PCB, appointed Butt as chairman of the PCB on October 6, 2008.
