LAHORE - Local Accountability Court on Thursday directed National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to produce the main accused of NIB Bank fraud case, Sheikh Afzal, on September 17 in the court for his judicial remand on the already fixed date. On September 9, the court had extended the physical remand of the main accused till September 17, but the NAB produced the accused Sheikh Afzal, a day before the date that fixed for hearing, with a request to send Sheikh Afzal to jail on judicial remand as he had completed his 90 days of physical remand. The Court directed NAB to produce the accused on September 17 to seek his judicial remand. Accused is the owner of the Haris Steel Mill and is involved in NIB Bank fraud case in which Rs 33.3 million had been embezzled. The owner of Haris Steel Mill had got loan from NIB Bank for the mill and did not return it. He is also the key figure in the Bank of Punjab fraud case, in which he embezzled Rs 6 billion.
