2 youths crushed to death in accidents

LAHORE – Two youths, including a 22-year-old businessman, were crushed to death by speeding vehicles in separate police areas in the Punjab capital on Sunday.
As per details, one Umar Khan, import/export expert, was knocked down by an uncontrolled car near Butt Chowk in the Green Town area. The injured instantly died, while the passersby captured and handed over the accused driver to the police. After knowing about the incident, the members of the bereaved family also reached the spot and forgave the driver Muhammad Shahzad, terming it an accident.
Similarly, a 20-year-old unidentified youth was crushed to death by a rashly-driven car at Bund Road in the Gulshan Ravi police area on Sunday. The body was removed to the City morgue for autopsy. Anyone having the information about the heirs to the deceased has been asked to contact the Gulshan Ravi Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, two policemen and three Razakaars were arrested red-handed by Ghalib Market police on charges of collecting money by patronising eunuchs and call girls.
Police sources said two cops Sharif and Ashraf, and three Razakaars Muzaffar, Rizwan and Khalil had admitted to patronising the anti-social gang. The accused told the police that they were operating a gang comprising eunuchs and call girls who used to stop citizens and lured them into anti-social activities.
Also Sattu Katla police claimed on Sunday to have recovered an abducted citizen and arrested two kidnappers. As per details, Abdullah Javed aka Sameer was allegedly kidnapped in June 2011 by unknown men. Following special directives by Saddar Police Division SP, Sattu Katla SHO arrested the kidnappers later identified as Ghulam Mustafa and Muhammad Shafiq Kumhar, and also recovered the abducted person from their possession.
Meanwhile, seven police officers, including four assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), were suspended by City’s operations police chief on charges of harassing and misbehaving with innocent citizens while discharging their official duties.
According to the police spokesman, Lahore DIG Muhammad Tahir Rai inspected several police pickets on Sunday and suspended seven police officers including ASI Muhammad Ali, ASI Qasim Ali, ASI Muhammad Nadeem, SI Rafiq Ahmed, Head Constable Karamat Ali, and Constables Muhammad Ameen and Naeem Riaz. The top cop snubbed them over misuse of power and directed the relevant divisional SP to conduct regular inquiries against them.
