KHANEWAL - Punjab Labour Minister Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi has said that the provincial government is utilising its maximum resources for the development and rehabilitation of labourers and no one would be allowed to deprive the community of its rights.He was addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the office-bearers of Nestle CBA Khanewal the other day. He assured that safety of labourers is a priority of the government. He said a strict legal action would be initiated against the factory owners who failed to install proper fire fighting instruments and ensure safety measures in case of emergency. He said that all the labour officers have been directed to submit reports after conducting surprise visits to factories and industrial areas.The provincial minister vowed that a social security hospital and labourers colony will be established very soon in Khanewal, as the PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif have taken a keen interest in the welfare of labours community. He accused the federal government of not releasing funds of various ministries including Ministry of Labour & Manpower which had been dissolved to provinces after the constitutional amendment.While addressing the oath-taking ceremony, newly-elected president Haji Muhammad Hussain Bhatti said, "We'll continue our efforts for the welfare of the community without any differentiation." He said that their union remained successful in getting confirmation letter of 1,000 workers at different factories including 400 in Kabirwala.Newly-elected general secretary Shahzad Javaid also addressed the ceremony and appreciated efforts of the union leadership for regularisation of contractual workers.
