ISLAMABAD - Total 23 Poomsae and Khyrogi fights were conducted in the National Taekwondo Championship 2015, currently underway at Pakistan Sports Complex, newly constructed building on Wednesday.

Army Red team dominated the proceedings and were on top by winning 20 gold and two silver medals with the total of 552 points, while Wapda were right behind in the second position with one gold, five silver and 14 bronze medals with 237 points and Railway earned third spot with two gold, four silver and eight bronze medals with total 202 points.

It is pertinent to mention here that Wapda and Railways had not been sending their teams for the past two years, but now they have sent their respective teams. Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Director General Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera was the chief guest while Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) president Lt Col (R) Waseem Ahmed Janjua received the chief guest and introduced him with the players, technical officials, referees and judges.

A total of 16 teams including two teams of Army, eight teams from provinces and seven from departments have been participating in 35 categories of both male and female events. Today (Thursday), the closing ceremony will be grace by Federal Minister Shahid Khakan Abbasi as chief guest, while Korean ambassador will be the guest of honor. Roots School System CEO along with other dignitaries will also be present there.
