Islamabad - The cattle sellers yesterday approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against shifting of cattle market and imposition of tax.

A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Athar Minallah will hear the petition of Khizar Hayat and some other cattle sellers today (Thursday).

Khizar Hayat and others moved the court through their counsel Muhammad Wasim Abbasi and nominated chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), deputy commissioner Islamabad, director municipal administration CDA and others as respondents.

The petitioner adopted in the petitioner that in its interim order, the court had already declared the imposition of tax as illegal. The petitioners maintained in their petition that contractor has been receiving Rs 250 per goat and Rs 500 per bull from them. They added that Punjab government has already removed all taxes on the selling and purchase of animals. They also stated that the administration has shifted cattle market from I-11 to I-12 and they were being stopped to bring their animals in this market. Therefore, they prayed to the court that it may issue directions to end tax and stop shifting of cattle market from I-11 to I-12.
