ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Davis Cup team, assembled at Istanbul since the September 10, got some good practice in Istanbul's main tennis complex, where they were especially invited to stay and play as guests by the President and owners of the complex.

Aqeel Khan, Samir Iftikhar and Abid Ali Akbar, having reached earlier, played friendly matches against Turkey number two player, who is also the member of the Bulgarian national team visiting Turkey.

SEVP of PTF and chairman of the selection committee Khawaja Saeed Hai also watched the sessions in person while Aisam ul Haq Qureshi also joined the team. Pakistani contingent reached Izmir on September 13, where the Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Group-II final will be held from September 18.

Pakistani players have been practicing on daily basis and getting training sessions in the supervision of Hameed Ul Haq at UTEM courts, where the matches will be played. The referee appointed by the ITF reached Izmir on 14th. The PTF members in Turkey have been highly impressed by the warm welcome, help and courtesies extended to them at both places where they had stayed.

Team manager Iftikhar Rashid also joined the contingent on Wednesday afternoon while PTF president Salim Saifullah Khan, currently in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj, especially asked both the federation’s SEVP to be the part of the contingent.

Chinese Taipei team reached Izmir on 15th and started their practice sessions. The chief of umpires and the second chair umpire, both being deputed by the Turkish Tennis Federation (TTF), reached Izmir on Wednesday. The draws for the tie will be held in the morning.
