ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority yesterday revoked the licences of Bol TV, namely BOL News and BOL Entertainment, till the completion of all legal formalities. The new body of Pemra, appointed last month, had a meeting the Headquarters in Islamabad. The body comprises Executive Member/Acting Chairman Kamaluddin Tipu, Info Ministry Secretary Muhammad Azam, Interior Ministry Secretary Shahid Khan and provincial members Nargis Nasir (Punjab), Sarfraz Khan Jatoi (Sindh), Shaheen Habibullah (KP) and Munir Ahmed Badini (Balochistan).

The authority also approved grant of landing rights permission to foreign kids channel “TOONAMI” in meeting and removed he restriction for a licensee to provide services to only one cellular services operator.

It granted 2 mobile TV licenses, one each to PTCL and Radiance Services (Pvt) Ltd. Moreover, the authority also reduced the tariff for long term up-linking permission.

The meeting approved all major recommendations of the FM workshops held at Islamabad and Karachi in February and March, which mainly included regulatory and tariff issues, operational impediments and the Capacity Building of licensees etc.

Earlier, the acting chairman welcomed the new members and hoped that new members would work hard for better media regulations in Pakistan. The members were briefed about pemra mandate, functions, its laws and regulations, revised code of conduct for electronic media notified on August 19.
