LAHORE - Businesswomen of Pakistan should gain expertise in social media marketing techniques to promote their products in national and international markets.

This was stated by Areeb Masood, a renowned marketing expert, at a training workshop organised by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) in collaboration with Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Multan Division. Ms Tania Buttar, Incharge Women Entrepreneurship Development Cell of SMEDA, and WCCI representatives also addressed the workshop.

Areeb acknowledged that the handicrafts to be manufactured by the women artisans in south Punjab had a great demand in national markets. But the products can also be promoted in the international markets by adopting social media marketing techniques, he said, adding that social media marketing was the most suitable technique for business women working in the low developed areas of Pakistan, as the marketing through social media does not need anybody to move out and travel across the boundaries of cities and countries.

Social media is the cost effective as well as the most convenient marketing tool for women of Pakistan, who do not afford the high cost advertisements and excessive travelling for marketing, Areeb Said and informed that the businesswomen could utilize social media also for sales of their products.

The business and professional women, who attended the workshop, were also provided with practical training for use of the tools and techniques of social media followed by extensive exercises in group work and discussion.

The participants appreciated SMEDA for holding such an important workshop and urged to arrange more training opportunities on this subject.

SMEDA representative Ms Tania Buttar assured the businesswomen to provide the fullest support of SMEDA in making their businesses viable and profitable through modern business management and marketing techniques.
