DCO orders intensive spray across city to control dengue

Rawalpindi-After sharp increase in cases of dengue, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Talat Mehmood Gondal has ordered intensive spray across the city and has formed special teams which will focus on the affected areas and collect the dengue larva.

“The government is adopting zero-tolerance policy on the issue of dengue and no negligence on part of any official will be tolerated,” said DCO at a meeting held yesterday.

The meeting was also attended by ADCG Nazia Pervin Sudhan, TMO Potohar Town Sardar Tashfeen, Assistant Commissioner Saddar Tasneem Ali, AC Cannt Mahreen Abbasi, AC City Maleeha Lodhi, DOC Dr Lubna Nazir, Assistant Director Local Government Allah Dita Najmi, Director Colleges Malik Muhammad Asghar, DO Social Welfare Aslam Metla, DO Labour Liqauat Ali and officials of WASA, RDA and other departments.

DCO Talat Mehmood Gondal, while addressing the meeting, said that the government was making all-out efforts to overcome the outbreak of dengue in the district and for this purpose all the departments have been put on high alert.

He said that officials of all the departments should work together to eliminate dengue from the district.

He directed intensive fogging in all the areas from where dengue larva is being found or patients are being detected. “All the dengue surveillance teams should visit the affected areas and recover dengue larva as much as possible because in this way dengue can be controlled,” Talat said.

He ordered the authorities concerned to initiate legal action against the head masters of all those schools from where dengue larva was found during inspection. “Hot spots should be brought under scanner as it is important to crush dengue larva,” he said.

DCO was of view that only collective efforts of all the departments can make the government able to win war against dengue. He also urged the citizens to play their vital role to control the outbreak of dengue by adopting precautionary measures.
