MIRPURKHAS - Hundreds of cattle traders blocked the main Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas Road and staged a sit-in outside the local press club and town police station here on Sunday to protest against attack on their cattle market in Mirpurkhas.

The protest was organised by Cattle Traders Association Mirpurkhas. The traders alleged that some armed men burned their dozens of huts and wooden structures of food of the cattle, damaged the water supply line and dig out the deep ditches near PCB ground.

Led by Muhammad Imran Qureshi, Akbar Marri, Balo Marri, Umer Daraz Qureshi, Muhammad Nizam and others raised slogans against the contractor of cattle market Ali Gohar Shah and chairman MCM.

The protesters told the media persons that on last night, around 25 unknown armed persons of above contractor along with excavator machine arrived the market where they issued threats of dire consequences to watchmen and compelled them to leave the cattle market after which they set their huts, wooden structures of placing the food of cattle on fire, damaged the water supply line.

They blamed that police remained silent over the issue. They told that a year back place of cattle market Mirpurkhas was shifted to near PCB ground at the land of MCM from slaughter house after the order of Sindh High Court Hyderabad bench.

However so-called contractor wanted to receive heavy excess fee of cattle by shifting the place of cattle market outside the city premises so that cattle traders could not make resistance, but still they were making unsuccessful efforts to keep away the cattle traders from the cattle market place by damaging the place, burning wooden structures.
