KARACHI - Double digit growth in earnings is expected amongst all the E&P companies due to production increases estimated for March-08 and high oil prices in 3QFY08. Arab light prices averaged USD93/bbl in 3rd Quarter - 68 percent Year-on-Year rise.   OGDC expected to post a profit after tax of Rs28.1 billion, with earning per share of Rs2.95 this quarter, a Year-on-Year increase of 10 percent. The topline increase comes on the back of increased oil and gas production along with higher wellhead prices for 2nd half of FY08 (higher realized oil price of USD67/bbl). OGDC's board meeting is scheduled on April 28, 2008 to announce the company's result for 9MFY08.   The company's drilling activity remained slightly behind schedule with a total of 16 wells drilled in FYTD out of an initial target of 41 wells, analyst said. Similarly, PPL is expected to post a profit after tax of Rs5.2 billion, with earning per share of Rs6.88 for 3rd Quarter of FY08, a Year-on-Year growth of 11 percent. The company's topline in 9MFY08 is expected to boost by 20 percent Year-on-Year due to a sizable rise of over 62 percent in 9MFY08 in oil production along with a significant growth of 36 percent in LPG production. Production increases from Adhi, Kandhkot, Makori and Mela along with higher wellhead prices for Sui and Kandhkot are expected to aide the topline. Contribution of oil revenues to the company's revenue mix is expected at approximate 14 percent against 8 percent last year. Likewise, POL's topline is expected to ride high with a 9 percent Year-on-Year growth during 9MFY08 concealing the 11 percent oil production fall during 9MFY08. Benefiting under its pricing mechanism of a cap-less link with int'l oil prices, the topline growth is expected to translate into a 46 percent Year-on-Year earnings growth during 3rd Quarter of FY08; however, this is mainly due to a low base-effect as 3rd Quarter of FY07 growth stagnated along with higher than expected operating costs. Analyst said the net realized oil prices are expected to average USD81/bbl.
