RAWALPINDI - District Bar Association (DBA) Thursday observed Martyr Day in compliance with the decision of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) to condemn the killings of April 9 at Karachi against the legal community. Legal practitioners were joined by the local leaders and activists of PML-N, JI and PTI at the DBA meeting at the bar hall. The speakers that included the political activists and the bar representatives termed the April 9 incidents as terrorism against the legal fraternity and condemned it. They maintained that terrorists activities in Karachi should be controlled and independent inquiry should be conducted into the tragic incident. The lawyers on the occasion said their struggle for the restoration of the judiciary could not be suppressed through terrorism and intimidation. They said that they would not accept the reinstatement of the deposed judges with any package of constitutional amendments as their campaign had not been for restoration of Chief Justice specific rather they were raising voice for the return of all sacked judges. The people of Pakistan gave their verdict against the dictatorship and Musharraf should accept the writing on the wall, they said.   Later, the lawyers carried out a protest rally that was also attended by the activists of the three political parties. The protestors marched towards the Camp Office residence of President Pervez Musharraf and staged a sit-in on the road leading to the Army House. They were stopped there by heavy contingents of police.
