KARACHI - Balochistan National Party (BNP) Karachi division on Thursday continued their token hungr-strike outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC) against the arrest of the party chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal. The protesters demanded the withdrawal of the 'fake' cases registered against the party leaders in various police stations across Karachi. On Thursday, the BNP workers protest entered the second day and they continued the hunger-strike. The participants were carrying party flags, placards, banners and they were chanting slogans against the arrest of the Baloch leaders. Saleem Baloch central leader of Jamoria Water Party (JWP), Fareed Baloch, Abbas Baloch, Maqbool Shah of BNP and Shah Nawaz Baloch of Baloch Students Organization (BSO) addressed the protesters. The speakers demanded to release former Chief Minister Sardar Akhtar Mengal and stop the allegedly ongoing military operation in Balochistan; they also strongly condemned the cases registered against the party leaders including Zahid Baloch President of BNP Karachi Division and others, while they also urged to withdraw the cases against them. They said that most of the cases against the political workers of Karachi were registered during the agitation occurred in Karachi and other parts of the country following the killing of JWP Chief Nawab Akbar Bugti and the cases still persisted. Reminding Benazir Bhutto's one of addresses in which she had announced to ending the operation in Balochistan after PPP formed the government, they demaded the government to fulfill her promises and that their party's leaders be released.
