MULTAN - The Punjab government will not impose ban on inter-district movement of wheat and the procurement operation will commence in Multan division from Monday (today). Similarly, the issuance of ginny bags to the growers is going to start from this date while wheat procurement will start from April 20. Meanwhile, briefing the Chief secretary Nasir Mahmood Khosa on wheat procurement operation here on Sunday, Deputy Director Food Asif Iqbal disclosed that the government had fixed 5.90 lac ton procurement target for Multan division. All out arrangements for achieving this target like procurement and ginny bag issuance centres have been set up, he added. The chief secretary directed food officials on this occasion not to impose ban on wheat movement and purchase it on support price fixed by the government. He asked all four DCOs of Multan division and food officials to offer all out facilities to the growers to allure them towards procurement centres. He said that the growers should be issued ginny bags according to Gurdawari record and no one should be given bags for more than five-day needs otherwise rush would increase on procurement centres.
