PML-N disappointed the people of Bahawalpur with the decision of withdrawing its ticket from Aqeel Najam Hashmi. The Pakistan Muslim League-N had issued the party ticket to his worker for the seat of PP-271.
The PML-N decided to support Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Ameer Dr Syed Wasim Akhter at this constituency. However, the PML-N workers and residents of Bahawalpur asked whether the PML-N had made an alliance with the Jamaat-e-Islami. They said that the residents of Bahawalpur will not support any party except PML-N and demanded that PML-N must filed its candidate in this constituency.
