SC orders to take custody of former senator Faisal Raza Abidi in contempt of court case

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has issued contempt of court notice to former senator Faisal Raza Abidi and a private channel.

SC has also ordered the police to take the custody of former senator and present him before the court on May 3rd.

 A 3-member bench of SC headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar took the sou moto notice of the hearing of contempt of court case against Faisal Raza Abidi on Tuesday.

Faisal Raza Abidi did not appear despite court’s orders. At the beginning of the hearing, CJP inquired where was he had hurled abuses. Is it freedom of expression?

The anchorperson of channel-5  has also been fired from the job. Justice Saqib remarked the channel not watched the program before it was aired. They offer an apology after the program is aired. "Is the apology like this"? CJP asked.

We are not accepting the apology. The court whereas issuing contempt of court notices to former senator Faisal Raza Abidi and private TV channel SC ordered the police to arrest Abidi and bring him before the court. The hearing of the case was adjourned till May, 3.
