Punjab CM orders to ensure availability of sugar at fixed rate

Usman Buzdar chairs meeting to review prices and availability of flour, sugar and other daily use items

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Saturday chaired a meeting to review prices and availability of flour, sugar and other daily use items. 

The meeting was briefed about the price control mechanism.  The Chief Minister directed making price control mechanism more effective and said that inflation is an important issue which demands special attention.  He directed to ensure smooth supply of all commodities in Ramazan Bazaars as well as in the markets. 

He ordered the administration to take every possible step to ensure the availability of sugar at a fixed price.  No one would be allowed to exploit the common man, he asserted.  He said that there were some problems in the supply but now the situation is getting better. 

He said that commodities should be made available to the common man at a fixed price.  SACM Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary to CM, Secretary Food, Secretary Industries, Cane Commissioner, DG Industries and other concerned officers attended the meeting.

Reviews progress on different projects

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Saturday chaired a meeting to review progress on different projects of the Public Health Engineering Department.  The Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction over the quality, standard and delay in the development projects.  He took notice of embezzlement in the streetlights project in Taunsa and directed to hold an inquiry and sought a report within 10 days. 

He also directed arrest of the contractor involved in this scam. He also directed to restore the water supply scheme in Fort Monroe on an emergent basis and said that underground tanks should be constructed in remote areas. 

He also directed to take all possible steps for water supply in Koh-e-Sulaiman and other hilly areas besides timely completion of streetlights, tuff tiles, water supply and other projects in Taunsa.  He said that he will personally monitor the development projects of the backward areas and those who involved in irregularities should get ready to face legal action. 

Principal Secretary to CM, Secretary Housing, Secretary Industries, Secretary School Education, Secretary Public Health Engineering Southern Punjab, DG Koh-e-Sulaiman Development Authority attended the meeting. Commissioner, DCO, Political Agent and other officers from Multan and DG Khan participated through video link.

Threatening govt officers an illegal act 

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that threatening the government officers is an illegal act which will not be tolerated. 

He further stated that government will not sit quietly if someone threaten the officers and such elements will be dealt with iron hands besides taking legal action against them.  Usman Buzdar said that opposition leaders, on exposure of their corruption are leveling false allegations against the government officers.  He said the opposition’s statement about government officials is highly regrettable and condemnable.  He said that no government official will accept the pressure of corrupt gangs. 

The government is standing with honest and hardworking government officials. If anyone has a complaint about the rules and regulations, then one should adopt legal way.  Time has passed when desirable results can be achieved by harassing government officers, now work is done on merit, he concluded.

Expresses grief over loss of precious lives in traffic accident

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has expressed sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives in a traffic accident near Gujjar Khan. The Chief Minister extended heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families. He directed to provide best medical treatment to the injured. He prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace.
