Hashim Abro in his above letter has drawn a very grim picture of the floods in interior Sindh. A major contribution to the floods in Sindh is from the Indus river and its five big tributaries, theKabul, Chitral, Swat, Haro and Sohan rivers. While the floods will go on increasing every year due to climate change, the proposed dams on the Indus, be it Bhasha, Akhori, Skardu or Katzara dam, being upstream of thetributary rivers, can never control the flood waters coming from these rivers, not even Tarbela dam. Only Kalabagh dam, being downstream of these rivers, can moderate the floods in Sindh caused by these rivers. It is for the educated people of Sindh to give correct advice to the unlettered politicians. KHURSHID ANWER, Lahore, August 16.
