ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ibaad on Wednesday discussed host of issues including modalities for the return of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to the federal and Sindh cabinet. The meeting, which was held here at the Prime Ministers House, was the follow-up of the meeting held between the Governor Sindh with President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday last, and both the leaders had further discussed the modalities of the points agreed upon in the earlier meeting. Sources further said that the Premier as per the reconciliation policy of the government persuaded the Governor for early return of MQM in the government. Though the response of the Governor was positive, yet he informed the Premier that final decision in this connection would be made by the Rabita Committee of the party while formal announcement in this connection would be made by the party Quaid Altaf Hussain, the sources further informed. The sources further said that MQM would likely to join the Sindh Cabinet in next couple of days as most of their demands have already been met and the rest would be complied with in coming days. The overall law and order situation in Karachi also came under discussion with special reference to the current wave of target killings in the port city. Both the leaders were on the same page and wanted a blanket operation against the miscreants and terrorists who were using the unrest in the city to their advantage. It was also the consensus view of both the Prime Minister and Governor that Army should be kept away and the government would bring normalcy in the city through efficient use of police force and Rangers, the sources further informed. It is pertinent to mention here that in Tuesdays meeting at Awan-i-Sadr Ishratul Ibaad had agreed in principle on the MQM rejoining the federal as well as Sindh governments for the greater cause of service to the masses and democracy.
