'Team focusing hard on fielding improvement

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Pakistan team camp for the preparations of Zimbabwe tour is in full swing here at the Gaddafi Stadium and off-spinner Saeed Ajmal reported in the camp on Wednesday. Talking to media persons here at the Gaddafi Stadium, opener Taufeeq Umar said that the players are doing hard work to play the series against Zimbabwe. We are practising hard in every field of the game and working well to improve our fielding department. Our team will not take Zimbabwe team easy as we think this series will be a very tough as the Zimbabweans recently beat Bangladesh team in a Test match after a long gap of six years and outplayed them in ODIs as well, he added. He further said that the camp was providing the players great opportunity to make them fully fit for the series and remove their weaknesses. The camp is very helpful in make us mentally and physically fit and to monitor over mistakes and remove them under the guidance of able coaches. It will help us to do fewer mistakes and perform well during the series, opener added. During the camp, the coaches were working on the use of new ball and guiding the players very well. The coaches are emphasizing on the use of new ball. They are guiding us well how to play and face the new ball and how can we play a long innings and guide our team to victory by batting well. Bowling coach is imparting us knowledge about how to utilize new ball to grab more wickets during the early overs. Taufeeq said that three openers in a team would create challenging atmosphere within the team and every opener would try his best to perform well and maintain his place in the team. I am hopeful I will perform well during the Zimbabwe series and try my best to resolve the opening issue of the Pakistan team, he concluded.
