KARACHI - The foundation stone-laying ceremony of Dow Life Sciences Institute, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) was held the other day at Sindh Governor House.

Governor Ishrat Ebad in his address said that it was his privilege to lay the foundation stone of “Dow Life Sciences Institute”, which is another milestone achievement of Dow University of Health Sciences, during a short span of eight and half years.

“My alma mater, Dow Medical College has been producing doctors for the past 68 years. However, creative research activity has only been initiated after its status of university.

 He further said that, he was glad to know that the Dow Life Sciences Institute will be working on various projects including production of anti-snake venom in Pakistan, the cases of which are specially seen in Sindh. Snake bite cases are routinely seen all over Pakistan but more so in the interior of Sindh, which unfortunately have meagre facilities.

Appreciating the efforts of Prof Masood Hameed Khan as Vice Chancellor, he said played a dynamic role with his leadership qualities in building up his team and providing congenial environment to produce best possible results.
