LAHORE – Fatima Jinnah Medical College (FJMC Principal and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Chief Executive Officer Prof Fakhar Imam on Friday constituted a new committee comprising senior teaching staff to probe the incident of giving a dead baby girl to a family instead of baby boy.
Senior doctors believe that some vested interests are launching propaganda against the administration under the guise of change of a newborn. On their insistence, the FJMC Principal stopped the committee from further probe and constituted a new one to unearth reality.
Meanwhile, the administration has decided to replace the deputy medical superintendents (DMSs) of both the morning and evening shifts for mishandling the case and not listening properly to the grievances of the aggrieved family. Dr Imran, the DMS of emergency in the evening shift, was stopped from performing duty on Friday and his charge was given to Dr Zia.
Eid arrangement:
The Punjab Health Department has formulated a contingency plan to provide health care services at public sector hospitals during Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
The health secretary has directed principals of autonomous medical intuitions, Punjab Health Services director general, medical superintendents of teachings hospitals, heads of special health institutions, executive district officers (health) and medical superintendents of DHQ & THQ hospitals to ensure provision of quality health care facilities during Eidul Fitr holidays. They have been directed to provide medical cover, including standby arrangements for medical at emergency.
They have also been asked to ensure availability of senior administrators and medical staff.
