QUETTA - Senior psychiatrist Dr. Ghulam Rasool reached home safely on Friday evening after remaining 17 days in captivity of kidnappers.

Unidentified armed had kidnapped Dr. Ghulam Rasool on August 1st from Brewery Road Quetta when he was on his way home.

According to family sources, Dr. Ghulam Rasool reached home safe and sound just after Iftari as the kidnappers had released him near Bolan Medical Complex Hospital close to his house. However, they did not disclose how much had been paid for safe release of the kidnapped doctor.

Sources said that the kidnappers were demanding Rs 50 million ransom for his safe release. It may be mentioned here that the abduction of Dr. Ghulam Rasool had triggered massive protest on the part of doctors who had been on strike for last 16 days in all private and State-run hospitals that caused immense difficulties for poor patients.

On Friday Pakistan Medical Association Balochistan chapter also suspended emergency services in all the State-run hospitals throughout the province,however, following the release of Dr. Ghulam Rasool the doctors called off the strike.
