Outages continue to irk Lahorites

LAHORE – The consumers of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) faced severe problems because of unavailability of electricity in many parts of the City especially at time of Friday prayer.
Loadshedding in Johar Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Township, Canal View areas and in other localities caused water shortage at prayer timing. Besides, tripping and consecutive power cuts in City feeders disrupted the routine life badly on Jumatu Wida.
The situation, reportedly, remained the same in other parts of the country because the national grid was facing more than 4,000MW gap between electricity demand and supply.
According to National Transmission and Despatch Company official, the electricity consumption was 18,205MW while the generation was not more than 14,245MW that resulted into a shortfall of 3,960MW.
