KARACHI - As many as eight people including two activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement were killed in separate acts of target killings and violence on Friday.

An activist of MQM was gunned down in Sector 11, Orangi Town in Pakistan Bazaar police precincts. Police said that victim Farhan Gilani, 30, was shot dead by armed bandits near PSO pump on offering resistance in robbery bid. The deceased was an active worker of Unit-120, Orangi Town sector. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.

Another activist of MQM was shot dead while other injured near Siddique-e-Akbar mosque, Nagan Chowrangi within the limits of New Karachi police station. SHO Ashraf Gujjar said that the two armed motorcyclists reached near Siddique-e-Akbar mosque, and opened fire. Resultantly three including Adeel, Faisal and Adnan received bullet injuries. All the injured were taken to ASH where Adeel succumbed to injuries. The deceased was the resident of Country Tower and worker of Unit-134.

Meanwhile, a police constable posted in the Pak Colony police station was killed in a firing incident in Gulbahar area within the limits of Pak Colony police station. The deceased was identified as Afzal and was the resident of Chakiwara police lane. He was shot multiple times when he was on duty at the main thoroughfare. The injured constable was taken to the ASH where he succumbed to injuries. Police officials said that the deceased was killed after he tried to foil the robbing bid, however, the culprits managed to escape.

A cable operator identified as Raheem Baloch, 40, was killed when he was standing near his home in Naval Colony within the limits of Saeedabad police station. Some unidentified culprits shot and killed him. He was taken to Civil Hospital where he succumbed to injuries. Police officials said that the victim had no affiliation with any party while the motive behind his killing had yet to be ascertained.  Moreover, within Saeedabad police remits, a hair dresser was gunned down at his barber shop in Yousuf Goth. He was identified as Shahzad Baloch, 30. His body was moved to CHK for autopsy. Police officials said that initial investigation suggests that the victim killed over personal enmity.  A young man namely Abbas Raza was gunned down in a targeted killing incident in Petal Wali Gali within Gulbahar police remits. SHO Rizwan Patel said that the deceased was the neighbour-cum-friend of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen’s activist Sajid Hussain who was gunned down a couple of days ago at Lasbella Bridge while further investigation was underway.

In Lyari, a body of a man identified as Iqbal, 50, was found from inside his home in Nayabad within the limits of Kalri police station. Police officials said that the victim was a government schoolteacher and unidentified culprits killed him over personal enmity. His body was moved to CHK and later handed over to his family while further investigation was underway.

Meanwhile, a bandit was shot dead during encounter near Farooq Azam Mosque, while his accomplices were arrested within the of Shahra-e-Noor Jahan police station. SHO Raja Tariq said that two bandits looted a passerby Muhammad Ali, patrolling police reached at the scene and encounter taken place between bandit and police in retaliation firing one bandit who later identified as Chawni and his accomplices Habib ullah was arrested. He added that police seized two TT pistols and a motorcycle from their possession. The deceased and the injured were the residents of Kati Pahari. The body and the injured were brought to ASH for postmortem and medical treatment.
