Dubai - Finance Minister Ishaq Dar met former president Asif Ali Zardari in Dubai on Sunday and exchanged views with him on the prevailing political situation in the country.

The meeting is considered part of a strategy to save the democratic system.

According to a private TV channel, some parties are advising the prime minister to get a fresh vote of confidence from the National Assembly, to show the opponents that he has majority’s support.

In case he gets the vote, there will be no political justification for his opponents to ask him to step down.

Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri are mounting pressure on the prime minister to quit.

The PAT chief’s deadline to the prime minister is expiring tonight. However, Imran Khan has set a two-day deadline for the purpose.
