Rich tribute was paid to veteran and legendry journalist Chairman Nawa-i-Waqt Group of Publications late Dr Majid Nizami at a condolence reference held here at Children Academic Centre in his hometown.

Earlier, Quran Khawani was held for the departed soul.

The ceremony to pray for the rest of departed soul and pay glowing tribute to the true ideological and patriot Pakistani Dr Majid Nizami was jointly arranged by The Nation Correspondent Arman Idrees Ahmed and Anjuman Tarraqu-e-Niswan (Regd) Sangla Hill. The city elite representing all segments of civil society including journalists, academicians, lawyers, members of the business fraternity, serving and retired public servants and others attended the condolence reference.

ATN Chairperson Mohtarma Kiran Shehzadi presided over the reference whereas former Principal Government Islamia Degree College Mian Anaytullah Shafqat was the chief guest on the occasion.

Prominent among others who graced the occasion included Anjuman-e-Sahafian President Muhammad Iqbal Skeikh, Deaf and Dumb Welfare Society President Muhammad Sohaib, Lawyers Alliance Chairman Chaudhry Arslan Idrees Chattha, Hub-e-Watan Party Pakistan President Ch Manzoor Qadir and Arshad Iqbal Numberdar.

Paying rich tribute to late Dr Majid Nizami for his lifetime services, the speakers termed Dr Nizami valiant custodian of the ideological frontier of Pakistan and a true patriot who pioneered healthy journalism in the country. They said that late Nizami sahib was a great national asset who spent his whole life for the promotion and safeguard ideology of Pakistan.

Speakers eulogized Dr Majid Nizami for his selfless contribution towards uplifting the lives of downtrodden and deprived segments of society.

They continued that Dr Majid Nizami was a bold and courageous icon of healthy journalism and staunch promoter and custodian of freedom of press and speech in the country. Speaking on the occasion, Arman Idrees Ahmed lauded that Dr Nizami’s contribution towards Pakistan Movement would be remembered forever. He underlined that Dr Nizami always took strong stand for protection and promotion of ideology of Pakistan.

Hub-eWatan Party President Manzoor Qadir termed Majid Nizami’s death a great and irreparable loss to Pakistani media as he was towering figure and bold and dedicated Editor who served the journalism more than seven decades and never compromised on principles.

They also lauded his role in the establishment of Aiwan-e-Iqbal and Aiwan Quaid-e-Azam.
