Former prime minister and leader of Pakistan Muslim League Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain Thursday claimed a forward bloc in the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-N could surface any time.

The former prime minister told reporters that the PML-N is still in power because of the differences among major opposition parties. “If the opposition is united then the government cannot stay even for a moment.”

Ever since the Panama revelations, media reports about internal party crisis have gone viral. The budget session was an indication of a crisis brewing when the PML-N regularly struggled to maintain quorum in the National Assembly.

Key party leaders, however, continue to deny the existence of any such forward bloc. Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan even ruled out the possibility of an in-house change.

Sources close to the PML-N on several occasion also hinted at the possibility of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif filling the slot of prime minister. The rumours, however, were put to rest when Nawaz Sharif returned home after undergoing open-heart surgery in London.
