PR Islamabad - Roots International Schools, an IB World School, conducted International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) orientation and counseling seminar RIS nationwide Campuses. The purpose of the orientation was to create awareness among parents and students about IBPYP students education programme.

The orientation session was intended to facilitate the school studentswho can benefit from the IB Primary Years Programme, which is a curriculum framework designed for students aged 3 to 12. The programme focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. It is defined by six trans-disciplinary themes of global significance, explored using knowledge and skills derived from six subject areas, with a powerful emphasis on inquiry-based learning. IBPYP Coordinator Naila Shahid, briefed the attendees of the orientation session about the programme and counseled the parents how they can help their child develop aspirations and new skills.

Speaking on the event, Noor Raza Cheema, the Guidance Counselor/Manager Global Reach, School Links and International Placements; Kulsoom Tanvir, International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme(IBDP)coordinator and DQCA; Tameema Tasnim GM Trainings, Continuous Professional and Organizational Development; and Walid Mushtaq, CEO RIS, were among the professionals and renowned career counselors who briefed about how the institution takes a holistic approach, nurturing cognitive, physical and emotional well-being of every child.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran after which different students shared their experiences at RIS and how it has opened an access route for them to enter top ranked universities of the World. One of the students who recently graduated from A-Levels, Mahnoor Saeed,received an early entrance along with a 90 per cent per annum scholarship at New York University (NYU) Shanghai, as well NYU New York that has offered as much as 50 per cent scholarship per annum. 

While thanking the entire RIS faculty, Mahnoor described the assistance she from her teachers, coordinators andher mentor, Walid Mushtaq, who had empowered her to believe in herself and mould from every angle ranging from studies to extra co-curricular activities of international order. 

The career counselors, who were present at the occasion, highlighted the achievements of RIS and its student’s body, while the guests were delighted to hear about outstanding scholarships being awarded to the RIS students this year by international universities.

The two hour seminar aimed to educate the parents and students about how to avoid the common mistakes that are made while planning their child’s and their own future academically. The overall session was quite interactive.

RIS has organised these orientation & counseling sessions nation-wide and in all of   its campuses, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, Wah Cantt and Muzaffarabad. These sessions are specifically designed to enlighten and educate parents and students about the scope of qualifications and counsel them for their future academic decisions based on the abilities and interests of their child.

At RIS you get to have a number of one-to-one meetings with an experienced and trained Career Counselor. Aptitude tests, questionnaires and ‘self appraisal exercises’ are brought into use at RIS schools and colleges that highlight potential, skills, interests and personality of the students. These exercises are useful to help them assess their suitability regarding different career opportunities, subject combinations and university course selection. 

Ultimately, this has resulted in to bringing a team of teachers who exposes the students to multiple perspectives, thus challenging their thinking on many levels and supporting outstanding achievements of the students at national and international examinations. The RIS students have made their mark on the Globe and continue to do so with the dynamic leadership of Walid Mushtaq and his dedicated staff and career counselors.
