SARGODHA -A UC chairman and his armed men allegedly tortured doctors and paramedical staff at THQ Hospital Kotmoman here on Wednesday. Following the incident, the doctors and paramedical staff observed strike in the hospital to condemn the incident while Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has also warned to observe strike if the police fail to arrest the culprits.
According to the THQ Hospital doctors, UC Chairman Muhammad Amir came to the THQ hospital for the medication of a patient. However, he and duty doctor Nasir Mukhtar exchanged harsh words over some issue. At which the UC chairman left the hospital and soon came back with armed men whom allegedly tortured the doctor and other staff in the hospital.
The hospital management claimed that the police could not reach the spot despite repeated calls.
The police, however, have registered a case against the accused without any arrest till filing of this report.
PM to lay foundation of Sialkot-Lahore Motorway on 22nd
SIALKOT - After nine-year-long wait, the dream of Sialkot people of having a motor way will become true, as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will lay down the foundation stone of Sialkot-Lahore Motorway at Saahowala-Sambrial here on August 22.
MNA Ch Armughan Subhani told the media that PM Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate the Sialkot-Lahore Motorway on August 22. The prime minister will also address an important meeting of Sialkot exporters and parliamentarians during his visit, he added. Mr Subhani said that the mega project would open new vistas of socioeconomic and human development in Sialkot region.
He said that Rs53 billion would be spent on the 89-km-long motorway, which would reduce distance and travelling time between Sialkot and Lahore considerably.
Under the reshaped design, the motorway would also be linked with Lahore-Islamabad Motorway near Kala Shah Kaku interchange while it would also be linked with the Lahore Ring Road near Mehmood Booti stop.
The PML-Q government had initiated the Sialkot-Lahore Motorway project first in 2007 (9 years ago) and the then Punjab Chief Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi along with president Gen Pervaiz Musharraf had inaugurated the project.
Later, the PML-N government in Punjab shelved the project on political grounds. After this, this project was revived, shelved, revived and reshaped for several times on political grounds.
Missing minor found slaughtered
TOBA TEK SINGH - A four-year-old missing boy was found slaughtered here in Chak 716/GB, Pirmahal on Wednesday.
The police said that deceased Aqib, son of Sarfraz Ahmed had gone missing on Tuesday. On Wednesday, villagers spotted his dead body in crops field located in the backside of his house.
Later, the Pirmahal Police shifted the dead body to Pirmahal THQ Hospital for autopsy.
Sarfraz Ahmad, the bereaved father, suspected that a youth namely Muhammad Saleem, said to be his relative, had taken away his son to nearby tube-well where he cut his throat. The police have taken the accused into custody and launched further investigation to ascertain facts about the incident.
No clue about 4 missing students
SAHIWAL - The police failed to resolve the mystery of four students of APS Memorial School Sahiwal who went missing on Tuesday.
Four tenth class students of APS Memorial School Sahiwal including Hammad, Ghulam Mustafa, Abdul Rehman and Usman went missing after school time. Sources revealed that two of the students’ mother - Hammad and Ghulam Mustafa’s are stepmother and there is a possibility that they might have runaway at their own free will. The police have been investigating the case from all angles without registration of an FIR.
School watchman murdered
SIALKOT- A watchman was found brutally murdered at Govt Girls High School Goindkey, Daska tehsil Wednesday morning.
According to the police, some unidentified accused had ruthlessly murdered the school watchman Muhammad Ashraf,50, during the night. The police said that the watchman had been murdered with sharp-edged knives in the school.
The school staff found him murdered in the morning.
The Bambaanwala Police have handed over the dead body to the bereaved family after autopsy.
Daska DSP Lal Muhammad Khokhar said that the Bambaanwala Police have registered a case with no clue or arrest in this regard.
