LAHORE - Punjab University Academic Staff Association (PUASA) held its emergent general body meeting on Tuesday and unanimously adopted resolutions condemning Punjab Government’s move to merge Punjab University Gujranwala Campus in nascent University of Gujranwala.
The House pledged to resist any such ill intention of depriving Punjab University of its lawful & rightful assets, already providing great educational services to the populous city of Gujranwala. The House demanded of Punjab Government to withdraw the immoral and illegal executive order of taking over of Punjab University’s Sub-Campus. Furthermore, the house urged Punjab University’s administration not to place any such item on the agenda of the PU Syndicate. Moreover, the house adopted a unanimous resolution for the grant of 25 per cent Disparity Reduction Allowance to all the cadres of the teaching faculty and non-teaching staff of the university without any discrimination. The general body was consentient to adopt the resolutions for the grant of Utility Allowance to all the teachers and employees of the University. It was also demanded to restore anti-date appointments of the BPS faculty and implementation of due date appointments of TTS faculty. The general body adopted another resolution for the restoration of time-scale promotions.
The house decided to extend full support to the of protest call of FAPUASA (Punjab Chapter) on August 25, 2021. The house expressed serious concerns on the conferment of honorary PhD degree to businessman Mr Gohar Ijaz. The general body feared that it may lead to further decline of the Academic standards & repute of the University.
