Khan peace project

Despite the fact that unprecedented political activity in the country has not helped Imran Khan's Tehrik-e-Insaf to expand in size, the great Khan himself has risen quite high in his political stature. Being honest and upright in his thoughts and actions, the people of Pakistan repose their trust in him more than the seasoned politicians. The masses expect him to play a leading role in relieving them from the tension, misery, torture and unrest that they are suffering. Although the Pakistan army is quite successful in its operations to eliminate the terrorists from our holy land, Imran Khan offered to mediate between the two factions so as to cut short the war in progress. The government of Pakistan, however, disapproved the plan considering the fact that such moves made in the past were not successful because the dissidents did not honor their commitments. A compromise with Taliban at any stage will involve offering them citizenship of Pakistan with all avenues of progress in exchange for an end to the 'terrorist activity' and some other conditions. I am sure the Taliban being the religious perverts and fanatics of the highest order will not accept (1) to change their self concocted Islamic ideology through which they are averse to female independence and education (2) to disarm themselves which is absolutely essential for accepting them amidst our fold. Any compromise with Taliban is thus ruled out. RAFI NASIM, Lahore, December 17.
