Int’l moot on Champions of Libraries concludes

LAHORE - Allama Iqbal Open University Vice Chancellor Dr Nazir Ahmed Sanghi has said that libraries are home to the people who love books adding that the government should establish libraries at union council level to promote book culture in the country. He was addressing the concluding session of two day international conference on “Champions of Libraries” at Environmental Law Auditorium on Tuesday.
In the concluding session, University of Health Sciences Vice Chancellor Maj Gen (r) Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam, Chief Librarian & President Pakistan Library Association (HQ) Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif, President PLA Punjab Dr Muhammad Ramzan, Secretary Archive and General Administration Department Oreya Maqbool Jan, President All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association Adeeb Javdani and others were present on the occasion.
UHS VC Maj Gen (r) Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam said that the progress of education was not possible without the progress of libraries. He said that teachers, students and librarians must play their collective role for promotion of knowledge. The conference was attended by over 600 delegates from country and abroad and around 30 research papers were presented. In the concluding ceremony, life time achievement awards were conferred on senior librarians.  
BOOK LAUNCH: PU VC Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran addressing the launching ceremony of the book “Shah-e-Habsha Khidmat-e-Nabvi Main” by Dr Zahoor Ahmed Azhar at Al Raazi Hall of Undergraduate Study Centre said that knowledge is source of power and respect and no nation could become knowledgeable without the strength of character. Columnist Dr Ajmal Niazi, Principal Oriental College and Chairman Department of Punjabi Dr Asmatullah Zahid, Dr Mazhar Moeen, Dr Syed Qamar Ali Zaidi, faculty members and students were present on the occasion.
The VC congratulated Dr Zahoor Ahmad Azhar for writing an interesting book on the topic. Dr Ajmal Niazi said that there was a dire need to preach teachings of Holy Prophet (PBUH) to bring Pakistan out of crisis. Dr Asmatullah Zahid said that the book was a gift for the young generation. Dr Mazhar Moeen said that the book was the best ever written on the topic describing character of King of Habsha and love with Islam.
