PESHAWAR - A policeman was injured when a remote-controlled device exploded at Kohat Road here on Tuesday morning.

Sources said that the blast occurred when police mobile of Bhanamari police station was patrolling in the area. As a result, one policeman sustained injuries whereas the mobile was partially damaged. According to police, the IED was planted along roadside in a heap of sand and created a loud explosion when it was detonated through a remote control.

Police said that mobile van was the target.

The injured policeman was shifted to a local hospital and discharged after being provided with first-aid treatment.

Meanwhile, police personnel cordoned off the site of attack and a search operation went under way.
