KARACHI - Following the Quetta church blast, Provincial Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal directed the Sindh Inspector General Police to take strict security steps across the province especially worship places of minorities.
In a statement, the minister has condemned the Quetta church blast and said that we would defeat the enemies of the country with joint efforts and we will not afraid from their terror activities. He directed the Inspector General Police, Sindh to take special security steps across the province and provide foolproof security at all worship places of minorities.
In a statement issued by IGP spokesperson, Inspector General Sindh Police, Sindh Allah Dino Khwaja directed concern police officers to strict security measures in all districts and police zones across the Sindh. He directed to improve snap checking and police patrolling in their areas and speedup intelligence based actions against criminals. He also directed to take extra ordinary and concrete security measures around sensitive places, installations, public places and worship places of minorities.
At least eight people, including a woman, were killed in a blast and 16 others injured at a Catholic church in Quetta city when a suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance gate of the church when stopped by the security guards while another one managed to get inside.
Gov condemns Quetta Church blast
Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair has strongly condemned the suicide attack near the gate of a Church in Quetta on Sunday.
In a statement, he expressed deep sorrow on the loss of lives in the blast and prayed for the early recovery of those who sustained injuries.
Zubair said those behind this dastardly act were the enemies of humanity.
He reiterated the government’s resolve to eradicate the menace of terrorism with the support of the people.
The governor said protection of lives and property of masses was the priority of the government.
He directed that the security of the places of worship of the minorities as well as the religious places be beefed up.
