Membership of 2 MQM leaders restored

KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday restored the membership of Saleem Shahzad and it other activists, who were expelled from the party last Friday. It may be recalled here that on Friday, MQM leadership had issued a Press statement stating that the party had expelled Saleem Shahzad from Rabita Committee on account of his personal and other activities while the party activists were also forbidden from making any contacts with another member of this body, Muhammad Anwar. However, MQM senior member and in-charge of labour division, Anees Ahmed Khan Advocate, has voluntarily resigned from the basic membership of the MQM, the statement said. Informed sources in the party told The Nation, on condition of anonymity, Saleem Shahzad, Mohammad Anwar and Anees Ahmed Khan Advocate had met the MQM chief Altaf Hussain on Saturday and tendered their apology over the reservations of the party about their activities. The sources added that Altaf Hussain has accepted the excuse of these leaders. Meanwhile, none of MQM officials has accepted or denied news of restoring the membership of these party leaders.
