QUETTA-Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that they would support any new social contract if formed with consensus of all units which could strengthen the Federation and bring peace and harmony in the country. He expressed these views while addressing a Press conference alongwith Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani here at CM's Secretariat on Tuesday. Earlier, Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif flanked by other PML-N leaders including Secretary General Zafar Iqbal Jhagra, Punjab President Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa and others were accorded rousing welcome by party workers at Quetta Airport led by PML-N provincial President Sardar Yaqoob Khan Nasar. He stressed the need for a new social contract and said that country had a democratic govt in place. All the democratic political forces should sit together, share their problems and formulate new social contract which could be acceptable to everybody, he added. 'We will support any new social contract which increases love and harmony amongst provinces, strengthen Pakistan and we will have no objection to it', he said. Shahbaz said that all resources of the country were joint property of all provinces and we should not impose any decision contrary to wishes of people and this culture should be removed from the country. 'All political parties of the country should have make endeavour to bring all Baloch nationalist parties into mainstream of national politics'. He said that will have to face some difficulties and bitterness in this regard but we need to remove all grievances. He said that if grievances of Balochistan were not answered at this juncture then it would be difficult to remove them in future. He proposed that a national conference should be convened in order to debate the issues and problems of country. 'A new social contract be made in the light of this conference', he said ,adding, Federal govt should take a lead in convening of this conference. He said Punjab govt would have no objection if formula for NFC Award is reviewed with the consensus of the provincial govts and the Federation. The CM Punjab announced that the Punjab govt would construct a cardiac center equipped with modern and sophisticated equipment essential for treatment of cardiac patients in Balochistan. This hospital would be built at a cost of over Rs 1 billion by a well reputed firm and would be handed over to the Balochistan govt after completion. 'This is a small gift from the people of Punjab to the people of Balochistan and in return we want nothing but good wishes and prayers of the poor'. He also announced free dialysis facility to people of Balochistan inhabiting in the districts adjacent to the Punjab province and provision of scholarship of professional education to 60 students of Balochistan in different institutes of Punjab under Punjab Endowment Fund. Responding to a question, Chief Minister Punjab said that PML-N would fully participate in lawyers long march. He said that they had not yet decided whether to participate in lawyers sit-in or not. When asked about adjustment of PPP with PML-N in Senate elections in Punjab , he said that if any adjustment is made with PPP regarding Senate elections it would yield positive results and would help to eradicate horse-trading. Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani, thanked Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and people of Punjab for announcement for setting up cardiac center in Balochistan. He said that through these steps relations of both provinces would be further strengthened. While addressing the Balochistan provincial ministers and members of Provincial Assembly, Shahbaz emphasized upon the need for taking practical steps for the redressal of grievances of all provinces. He said that owing to wrong policies of former President Pervez Musharraf country had been plunged into numerous problems. He said that India was confronted with more problems as compared with Pakistan but they solve their problems through dialogue and politics while unfortunately for the last 32 years undemocratic rulers in Pakistan had tried to solve the problems by force which had further increased the gulf between the provinces and Federation. 'I have come here to convey the good will massage of people of Punjab for Baloch and Pakhtun brothers', he said ,adding, if any new social contract could remove grievances of people we would support it. He said that apology should be sought from Baloch people for the injustices and excesses committed by former govts to them. 'The Baloch tribes and Sardars supported formation of Pakistan' , he added. He said that assassination of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti occurred in tenure of a dictator and ,added, 'we need to sit together in order to put the country of Quaid and Iqbal on the right track'. Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif also addressed workers of PML-N during his one-day visit. Talking to party workers he said that without independence of judiciary no country could make progress. He assured that PML-N would support long march of lawyers and would continue its struggle till reinstatement of all deposed judges including deposed Chief Justice Iftikar Muhammad Chaudhry. He said that govt should reinstate all deposed judges before lawyers long march so that country could make progress and people could get justice. He hailed the spirit of party workers for their courage and determination who tolerated 8-year long dictatorial rule of Pervez Musharraf and faced difficulties and problems. Dozens of people joined PML-N on this occasion. Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif welcomed their participation.
