In recent months, I have felt a dire need that the police-citizenry relationship must be improved. The trust deficit amongst the two parties is rapidly increasing which is not beneficial for national security. I was alarmed to see that most people do not even know the basic duties of police in the country due to which a lot of confusion can occur. It is imperative to know the basics of law enforcement agencies so that citizens can cooperate with them accordingly. A beat constable is not one who beats as no police in Pakistan has the legal right to do so. A beat constable is one who has a specific area where has to regularly report.
