FAISALABAD - The Faisalabad Development Trust has paid educational dues of 193 deserving students of the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, amounting to Rs3.1 million.
These students were selected by a 3-member Scrutiny Committee constituted by the vice chancellor. The committee had received 302 applications from the university students for financial assistance.
FDT Vice Chairman Mr Shaiq jawed handed over a cheque of the amount to the VC through the divisional commissionerat a special ceremony held at University Hall. Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmed Khan and Divisional Commissioner Syed Tahir Hussain appreciated the FDT move, saying that the financial help build careers of the students . On the occasion, the VC informed the meeting that the University would sign a Memorendum of Understanding with the FDT to provide quality schooling up to 500 students from Class 1 to 10 and the Trust would pay Rs1,000 for each student to the University.
He added that in return, the UAF would provide its building to start a high school as well as faculty members by engaging its own students as part time assistant teachers in the school. He said that the FDT would itself pay the fees of the poor and deserving students, beside affording their other expenses.
