BAHAWALPUR - The Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) has been nominated as the first chair of Inter-University Consortium (IUC) for the promotion of social sciences, arts and humanities (IUCPSS) for one year.
According to formal notification issued here, IUB VC Dr Muhammad Mukhtar will act as IUCPSS chairperson during the period. HEC Executive Director Dr Sohail Naqvi and National Committee for Development of Social Sciences Chairman Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin assured utmost cooperation with the new office-bearer for improving the state of social sciences in the country.
Under the Inter-University Consortium, eight public sector universities have signed first ever agreement for the promotion of social Sciences, arts and humanities. Other universities include: Quaid-i-Azam University, University of Gujrat, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, Government College University, University of Balochistan, Institute of Management Sciences and Bahauddin Zakriya University.
The universities will promote faculty development, student exchange, joint research projects, joint programmes with international organisations, joint seminars, diploma courses on civic/human rights education and other programmes of mutual interest.
