LAHORE – Federal Information Minister, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that Nato supply was restored only for the reason that there were books of school children in some consignments.

She refuted the impression that Prime Minister was interfering in the by-election of his son in Multan saying that after announcement of election he never visited his city.

She was talking to mediamen after attending a fourth annual three days Nazria Pakistan Conference held under the aegis of Nazria Pakistan Trust (NPT) on Friday.

Chairman NPT and TheNation Editor-in-Chief, Majid Nizami presided over the conference while federal minister was chief guest. Begum Majeeda Wyne, Begum Mehnaz Rafi and Rana Arshad also spoke on the occasion.

Federal Minister said that terrorism was not because of any single school of thought but it was everywhere. She said that general elections would be held under the aegis of such an impartial caretaker government which would be acceptable to all the stakeholder parties. She claimed, “we are trying to make election commission impartial also”. To a question she said that her government condemn drone attacks wherein innocent people were being killed.

She said that on Kashmir and India issue PPP government would take decision in the best interest of the country. She said that PPP was formed on the basis of Kashmir issue.

Earlier, speaking on the occasion she said that women played a vital role in Pakistan Movement and then PPP provided opportunities to women to play their role in politics and other fields of life.

In his conclusive address Majid Nizami said that there should be no trade with India until and unless Kashmir issue was resolved.

He said that India has occupied our jugular vein, he asked Firdous Ashiq Awan to make Amin Fahim understand that he should not talk of relations with India.

Nizami pledged, “We will even throw bomb on India to get Kashmir freed from her clutches”. He said hat land for construction of NPT building was granted by former Chief Minister Punjab, Ghulam Haider Wyne and he also granted land in Johar Town for the construction of Aiwan-e-Quaid-e-Azam which was underway. He reminded the federal minister that a cheque of Rs 50 million was due with federal government which was promised by Prime Minister, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani for the construction of Awain-e-Quaid-e-Azam.

Speaking on the occasion Begum Mehnaz Rafi said that women played a vital role in Pakistan Movement and said had the women not taken part in movement Pakistan would have not come into being.

Majeeda Wayen in her address said that basis of NPT was on Islam and it carried more weight when Majid Nizami was leading it.
