ISLAMABAD - PML-N President Mian Nawaz Sharif visited the protest camp set up by family members of missing persons to show solidarity with them here on Friday. The other PML-N leaders including Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Ishaq Dar and Khawaja Saad Rafiq also accompanied him.
The camp was organised by the Chairperson of Defence on Human Rights Amna Masood Janjua, at D-Ground outside the Parliament who has been struggling for the safe recovery of her husband as well as all other missing persons since long.
Amna Masood Janjua and other relatives of missing persons demanded of Nawaz Sharif that a resolution may be tabled in the Parliament like 20th Amendment about missing persons and efforts should be made for early recovery of all the missing persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Nawaz said:‘We [PML-N] will continue this jehad until they [missing persons] are recovered’. He said that his party would raise its voice against the issue. ‘This cannot be tolerated. All of this is happening under the nose of the democratic government’, he added. Nawaz further said: ‘We will move a resolution in the National Assembly to back the missing persons case’. He said that those who will oppose the resolution would be exposed in front of everybody. ‘We cannot see this happening to the families of over 1,000 missing persons from across the country’, he said.
‘Their family members have been picked up by unknown people, they don’t know of their whereabouts and their condition’, Nawaz stated.
He also extended his party’s support to the missing persons in Balochistan.
‘I want to assure my brothers in Balochistan that we will raise our voice for them as well. We do not discriminate between provinces’, he said.
‘Our heads are hanging in shame because of the society that we live in, who are these people going to go to?’, he said.
‘I ask, why the government doesn’t inquire about this?’, he added.
