PESHAWAR - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Friday criticised provincial Minister for Labour and Manpower Sher Azam Wazir of Pakistan People’s Party for allegedly making illegal induction of class-IV employees of his constituency in Worker Welfare Boards of Peshawar.

When JUI member of the provincial assembly Mufti Syed Janan asked about the performance of the Labour Ministry, the house referred his question to Standing Committee on Labour and Manpower, and thus the provincial Minister for Labour was extremely pressurised. The assembly session started with one-hour delay. MPA Mufti Kifayatullah, Haji Qalandar lodhi, Pir Sabir Shah, Mufti Syed Janan, Shah Hussain Khan Alai and Abdul Satar Khan asked question regarding the performance Forest Ministry, Finance Ministry, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Mines Ministry and Labour Ministry. Provincial Minister for Religious Affairs Haji Namroz Khan, provincial Minister for Forest and Environment Wajid Ali Khan, Nawab Zada Mohammad Zeb Khan, Sher Azam Wazir and Syed Qalab Hassan responded to questions regarding the performance of their departments.

Addressing on the occasion, Wajid Ali Khan said that they have taken steps for the protection of local species of fish, including Trout, Masheer and Sher Mahi. He said that for this purpose the government has constructed 12 nourishment centers for these fish, which include five of warm water and seven of cold water. To another question regarding deforestation, Wajid Ali Khan said that the government chalking out a policy in this regard.   To a question, Minister Mahmood Zeb Khan told the house that the labourers who were killed in Abbottabad mines have been compensated with Rs 1 lakh despite the fact that they were not registered with Worker Welfare Board. He said that they were involved in illegal mining and FIR had been registered against the owners of these mines.

The provincial Minister Sher Azam Wazir said that the compensation money had been increased to Rs five lakh and their children were being provided free of cost education if these labourers were registered with Workers Welfare Board.

He said that Workers Welfare Board was affiliated with the Federal Government but it had been devolved to province after 18th Amendment. However the provincial coordination council has still retained it with the center for six months and its name have been changed human resources development.

Meanwhile, inaugurating a mega project of in Batkhela, KP Finance Minister Engr Mohammad Hamayun Khan said that PPP came into power in such a critical condition that the people were afraid of going even to mosques, schools and funeral prayers, but despite these difficulties it carried out development work.
