WAZIRABAD - Second phase of Punjab Sports Festival ended in tehsil on Friday.

TMO Sumair Intzar Cheema, Tehsil Sports Officer Faiza Kanwal and TO I&S Ch Waqar Ahmad distributed the prizes and trophies among the winners and runners-up players and teams in the closing ceremony held in Railway Ground. Dancing horses, cultural dances and fireworks display added people’s interest in festival.  Final results of 9 matches were announced, according to which Young Rachna Hockey Club of Gakkhar Mandi won the match by defeating Hyderabad Club of Alipur Chattha by 1-11 goals. Shahid Butt Club of Gakkhar won in Football match after defeating Khaqan Football Club of Vianwali, Sohdra won the title of Cricket Tape Ball Event while Pandori Kalan remained Runner-up. Chak Satya won Kabaddi Match by defeating rival Wadala Cheema, Badminton Event was won by Ayaz and Partner, while Mohammad Ahmad Chattha and partner of Ahmad Nagar remained on second position.

In Athletics, Syed Abbas Shirazi won in Hammer Throw Event, while Abbas of Kalasky remained second, Javelin Throw Championship was grabbed by Qamar Abbas of Kalaske, while Khurshid Ahmad of Jaura remained Runner-up. Zartash of Madrasa Chattha won the Long Jump Championship and his close rival Builal Cheema of Mansoor Wali remained second.

In 100-meter race, Muhammad Arsalan of Alipur chattha remained fastest, while Ali Ansar of Kalaske stood second, Ali Ansar of Kalaske won 200-meter race, in which Bilal Cheema and Zahir Abbas jointly remained second. Qamar Abbas of Kalaske and Khurram Shehzad of Wazirabad remained 1st and 2nd respectively in 400-meter race. 800-meter race was won by Faisal Shehzad of Kot Jan Bakhsh and Mohammad Irfan of Jhamwala remained second in the event but won 1,500 meter-race, in which Jahangir of Kot Jan Bakhsh grabbed second position.
