ISLAMABAD - Denouncing the assassination of 23 FC kidnapped troops by TTP , former President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday said the admission by a faction of the militants has exposed , once again, the real intentions of the savage people.
The PPP leader, in a statement, said that the assassination of over 20 kidnapped troops by a group of Taliban as "most barbaric, coward and inhuman." He said that the TTP Mohmand Agency last night formally admitted to killing nearly two-dozen soldiers of Frontier Corps in June 2010. Zardari expressed hope that in the fullness of time perpetrators of such heinous crimes will be brought to justice and they will have no place to escape. The former President also expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for the martyred. "Those who were assassinated by the militants in cold blood are our martyrs and the heroes of the nation," he said, adding their sacrifices will not go in vain.
Adopting strict stance after TTP 's series of attacks, Leader of opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah has asked the incumbent government to rethink seriously and make final decision.
"Now time has to take final decision," said Khursheed Shah in a statement about the government's decision to continue peace talks with Taliban in such circumstance. Shah made this statement after the recent admission by a TTP faction of brutally assassinating 23 FC kidnapped troops .
Commenting on peace talks between government negotiators and TTP 's nominated committee, Shah asked the government to explain the utility of talks after the killing of 23 FC personnel by TTP 's faction. It would not be out of place to mention here that JUI-S Chairman/ TTP nominated committee head Maulana Samiul Haq had recently hinted about ceasefire.
The PPP leader further remarked that the Taliban wanted to hold dialogue after making the government weak. He said it was second violation of TTP during the ongoing peace dialogue between negotiators and TTP 's nominated committee. As, Shah said, the government had stated that the Taliban would not conduct any attacks.
It is relevant here the Mohmand Agency claimed to have killed 23 FC personnel in their custody on Sunday. TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid reportedly said the killings were retaliation for the custodial killings of their members by security forces.
