Rawalpindi - Around seven persons were injured when rival armed groups exchanged firing in the limits of police station Ratta Amral on Tuesday.

The clash took place in Dhoke Mangtal over land dispute. The injured were rushed to District Headquarters Hospital. “Two injured are from Jadoon Group while five belong to group led by Altaf,” said police.

The injured were identified as Salaam Mir, Muhammad Mir, Muhammad Sufyan, Raja Nasir, Qasim, Suhail Ahmad and Tariq. Doctors at the ward said that all of the injured are in stable condition.

The police said armed men of both groups reached the hospital and their firing in the hospital premises created panic. “We initially thought terrorists attacked the hospital. Everyone started running outside or ran for cover,” said Altaf Satti, a ward boy. He said the armed persons were firing without realising that they might shoot innocent people too.

A heavy contingent of police reached the hospital and controlled the situation.

Gates of the hospital were closed and no one was allowed to enter, causing many difficulties to patients and their attendants. The police also closed emergency ward.
