Zara Naeem Dar, the world's Associate of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) topper gave an exclusive interview to The Nation at her residence in DHA, Lahore on Wednesday.
Belonging to a military family, and being the youngest child amongst a sibling of three, she conveyed in her interview about the equally competitive careers of her elder sister in Gender studies and of the middle one in Business studies. Her father is a military officer while mother, a house-wife.
Zara has made a world record of topping among five lac and twenty seven thousand students of 179 countries doing ACCA and has aced the ACCA’s Financial Reporting Program (FRP) so far.
The interview comprised a detailed discussion on her educational journey, family background and future goals. Zara told The Nation that her family was the major support and inspiration throughout thick and thin.
Belonging to a profession with comparatively biased gender diversity, she highlighted the professional challenges that the young women face in professions like ACCA.
In addition, she went on to say that soon she will open her own audit firm in which she wants to promote fields like accountancy and finance in the country.
Receiving recognition from the US embassy, Zara has been accredited for the achievement while the Government of Pakistan has also acknowledged her global accomplishment.
Zara, in her interview also mentioned her expertise in the fields of art and sports and still aims to achieve more, testing her limits in multiple walks of her diverse interests.
“I remember I said to my father that my exams are on the very next day, he said no you can do it , you have to do it” she said.
ACCA, being established since 1904, is the global professional accounting body, offering the Charted Certified Accountant qualification degree to almost 179 countries of the world.
