Rajas guide Suzuki to title

LAHORE Suzuki Swift hammered a struggling PAF/ETPB in the final of the Toyota Cup Polo Tournament at the Lahore Polo Club on Sunday. The Raja duo of Samiullah and Temur Nadeem took their team to victory with seven goals between them in the big victory for their side. Raja Samiullah opened the match with a spot penalty an under-the-belly shot. Shah Qublai Alam neutralized the lead with spot penalty. Sami struck again and Qublai gave similar answer as both the sides ended the chukker at 2-2. In the second chukker Raja Temur Nadeem first hit a solo-effort goal and then Sami followed it up with a similar goal. Raja Temur hit another two goals and now Suzuki Swift were 6-2 up. Shah Qublai Alam, by the closing stages of the second chuker converted a long lofted under the neck shot. Down by such margin, PAF/ETPB needed a big effort but only Ahmed Ali Tiwana was able to score but only a 30-yarder. Suzuki Swift converted three goals by closing stages to further solidify their lead. Naveed Sheikh and Agha Murtaza Ali Khan served as umpires. Earlier in the subsidiary final, Zong beat GTO by eight goals to 4 1/2. Lt Asif Zahoor converted four goals. Later, chief guest Defence Minister Ch Ahmed Mukhtar gave away prizes to the winners.
